Treasure was selected for Collect Open 2020 at Somerset House, London, a curated platform within Collect International Art Fair for Modern Craft and Design organised by the Crafts Council. Bringing together galleries, artists and contemporary makers from across the world, Collect presents material-led practices that move between art, craft and design.
For its sixteenth edition, the fair relocated to Somerset House, occupying a series of historic rooms overlooking the Thames. Within this setting, Collect Open presented ambitious installation-based works exploring themes of ecology, preservation, memory and transformation through contemporary material practice.
Developed alongside scientific research undertaken in collaboration with Cornell University, Treasure introduced ecological and collection-based concerns into the exhibition through wax botanical sculpture and natural history references, contributing to wider conversations surrounding collecting, value, and the fragile systems through which natural forms are observed, archived and preserved.
