Asian Flowers

A collection developed for presentation at the Karin Weber Gallery, Hong Kong, drawing on accounts of Victorian plant hunters who travelled by sea in search of exotic flora to bring to Britain.

The works depict traditional Chinese flowering plants, rooted in cultural symbolism and seasonal association, and in systems of botanical collecting and exchange. They explore viewing through glass and within domestic interiors shaped by displacement.
