Flight of the Bumblebees and works from the Asian Flowers series were presented in Defying Boundaries: Female Vision at Karin Weber Gallery, Hong Kong. The exhibition brought together a selection of female artists represented by the gallery, spanning different generations, geographies and approaches to making. Working across painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics and sculpture, the artists reflected the breadth of practices within the gallery programme.
Presented in early 2025, the exhibition featured artists from Hong Kong, Myanmar, Europe and the UK, creating a conversation between practices shaped by different cultural experiences and perspectives. Within this setting, Townsend exhibited botanical sculptures drawn from two distinct bodies of work. Alongside the seasonal flowers of the Asian Flowers series, Flight of the Bumblebees introduced themes of pollination, ecology and environmental change.
The exhibition marked a further collaboration with Karin Weber Gallery, bringing together works made for different projects and allowing them to be seen in a new context alongside a diverse group of contemporary female artists.
